Summer is for cookouts! Cookouts, or barbecue (BBQ), is usually done in an outdoor environment by cooking and smoking the meat over wood or charcoal. Barbecue as a noun can refer to the meat used, the cooking apparatus (the “BBQ grill” or simply “the Barbecue”). Barbecue also may refer to a party or social gathering that includes such food types or such preparation methods for the food. Barbecue as an adjective can refer to foods cooked by this method.
