Celebrating Ramen

Ahh…ramen – that great little noodle dish that comes from our friends in Japan by way of China. Ramen – the food of artists, poets, authors and musicians and starving people everywhere. They sell it to us cheaply in convenient plastic bag enclosures with all the instructions and everything there right on the package! And, they sell it to us for like 12 packages for a dollar (you have to go on double coupon day).

A good ramen cook tends to know about 1,001 ways to serve this little noodle meal. After all, ramen is only a mixture of wheat flour, salt, water and kansui, a form of alkaline mineral water. Throw some stuff in from the fridge and somehow ramen becomes groovy food. The more creative you get – the groovier the food. Mix in some egg, mix in some bacon, mix in whatever you want.

Hey, if you know about a 1,001 ways to cook this time-saving and very economic meal then you’ve tried just about everything in the quest for a better (i.e., different) ramen experience. There are 85 billion ramen meals served every year. That’s a lot of noodles folks!
