The Polyester Prince

He’s From The Past, So He Knows The Future

Dirque du Soleil, affectionately known as the Polyester Prince, is the time-walking showman who bridges the groovy past with the glittering future. Raised by a pair of free-spirited hippie acrobats in the sun-drenched San Fernando Valley, Dirque’s early life was a kaleidoscope of high-flying tricks, swirling incense, and endless California sunshine. His days were filled with impromptu trapeze lessons in the backyard, evenings under beaded doorway curtains, and a soundtrack of disco, funk, and psychedelic rock.

Everything changed the day his parents ran away to join a French circus, leaving young Dirque to spin the next chapter of his story on his own. He survived by hustling his way through off-the-lot film productions, slipping into bit roles and stunt gigs, and teaching the Hustle at the local disco to anyone who could catch his rhythm. The Valley’s nightclubs became his second home, where mirrored balls reflected his every move and neon lights seemed to bend in time with his steps. He became a quiet dlegend of the nocturnal sparkle, a figure whispered about but rarely truly known.

Though he never officially graced the deck of the Love Boat, Dirque has been the unseen hand behind countless 70s revival shows, advising performers on how to truly catch that fleeting shimmer of nostalgia. He has danced with tomorrow, lived through yesterday, and stitched them together in polyester threads of performance. His world is a vivid dream of sequins and spotlights, his heart is pure showmanship, and his story is only just stepping onto the stage for its next act—a dance that promises to keep the glitter spinning for decades to come.

He's from the past so he's knows the future. Dirque du Soleil hails from the San Fernando Valley in Southern California where he was raised by hippie acrobats who eventually left him to join a French circus. After his parents left, Dirque survived by appearing in several “off-the-lot” film productions and by giving Hustle lessons at the local discotheque. Even though he was never on Love Boat, he has served as a consultant for many 70s revival television shows over the years.
