Don’t Forget The Other Betty!
While most of the attention goes to Bettie Page, the Queen of the Pinups, for her pinup photos taken during the 1950s, there was another Betty on the scene – one we don’t hear of that often. Her name is Betty Brosmer and she possessed the “perfect hour glass figure” with the unbelievable dimensions of 38-18-36!
Unlike Bettie Page, Betty Brosmer is considered the First Supermodel (sorry, Janice Dickinson). Betty was also the highest paid photo model in the United States at the time and one of the first models to receive residuals for her published work as well as own the rights to the negatives.
Having won over 50 beauty contests before the age of 20, Betty eventually appeared on over 300 magazine covers including Life, Time, Fortune, Look, and the Saturday Evening Post. Betty also appeared on album covers, advertising spreads, and life-size cutouts for various advertisers.
Betty was completely devoted to women’s health and fitness. In 1961, Betty married fitness guru and bodybuilder Joe Weider and the two began working alongside each other. Betty is also a founding member of the International Federation of Bodybuilders. So … meet the other Betty!
