The quote, which became the title of a Julia Child cookbook was  uttered by Chef Mary Bergin on an episode of Julia Child’s television show on PBS.

Chef Julia Child: “Oh Mary, I think everyone should have a blow torch in the kitchen.”

Chef Mary Bergin: “No Julia, every WOMAN should have a blow-torch in the kitchen!”
