In the 1950s and 1960s, there were several publications of dubious origin that purported to guide men in the “art” of girl watching.

Now, we’re not sure why a girl-loving guy would need such a guide in order to watch what he loved best – girls. Think about it.

These “spicy” magazines started from cheesecake cartoons and slowly progressed to more evocative types of images involving photographing the supposed girls who were being watched.

In reality, the girls being watched were models – women you would probably never see passing down the street.

And yes, these magazines were really just a front for any type of photography that would be permitted at newsstands or through the United States postal system. The title was the pass.

So, if you get right down to it, Girl Watching Guides were never intended for men who actually went outdoors and looked at women.
