Vincent Price Was A Foodie
Vincent Price Was A Foodie!
Yes, the noted master of horror, Vincent Price, was a foodie. In addition to his acting career, he enjoyed collecting art and cooking during his lifetime. It’s understandable, his father was the president of the National Candy Company and his grandfather invented Dr. Price’s Baking Powder, the very first cream of tartar baking powder.
Vincent was a very well respected gourmet cook, a talent which lead him to author several cookbooks including the very successful A Treasury of Great Recipes cookbook. In 1971, Vincent Price hosted a cooking show on television called Cooking Pricewise. In that show, he demonstrated how to cook dishes from around the world. He also demonstrated how to poach a fish in a dishwasher on the Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. Quite versatile.
“If chicken always tastes better in a Chinese restaurant, it’s not just an accident.” Vincent Price
“There are three things which really turn me on, as the current saying goes, one is work – I’m never really happy when I’m not working, another is art and the third is food. This book is the follow-up to the television series I made recently, which was all about food. I didn’t invent the recipes in the book, or in the series. I collected them.” Vincent Price
