Concept: The Transparency Project

Concept & Proposal For An Art Exhibit

Build An Architecture For Seeing Through

1) Build a structure 30 feet long, 20 feet wide with 15 foot walls and a simple entry in the front of one of the wide sides. No ceiling.

2) Build a cube 10 foot wide, 10 foot long with 15 foot walls and a simple entry on one of the sides. No ceiling.

3) Place the cube (centered) in the rectangle with entry ways opposite of each other.

4) The materials for the walls are to be Plexiglass or similar material that ensure strength and clarity of vision through the material. The walls should be several inches thick for strength and rigidity. Any wall seams should be made to be nearly invisible.

5) Use the simple photography studio related black and white line drawings I have prepared and convert them to very large transparencies. This ensures the line drawings can be interpreted from the front or the back and other transparencies can be seen through and add to the interpretations.

6) Mount the transparencies on the interior walls of the rectangle and the cube so that they may be viewed as visitors walk through the space. Ideally, the exhibition would stand upon a platform of three steps up.
