Self On Big Screen (1990)

Shot on film in 1990 at The Meadow Drive-In just west of Stigler, Oklahoma on Highway 9. The pictures of the blank screen were used in a photo project for a photography course in art school.

The Meadow Drive-In was opened in 1955. It was no cheap set-up. The screen tower was built of concrete blocks with wood timbers inside the tower for additional support.

Unfortunately, the screen tower burned to ground not long after these pictures were taken. On my last visit to Stigler, the foundation to the projection booth was still visible from the highway.
